◆About the Shibuya Arrow Project
Towards the Tokyo 2020, more and more visitors (foreigners, workers and students) will increase in Shibuya Ward. Threfore, an serious issue is expected to occur : a large number of people become difficult to come back home at the time of disaster.
Elementary schools or parks in ward is "temporary meeting site", but it is not enough space for inhabitant of a ward and visitor of Shibuya to evacuate. Therefore, we decided to set up evacuation sites as "temporary evacuation site" as a safe place where visitors are temporarily evacuated at the time of disaster, especially around Shibuya Station.
This is a new concept of temporary evacuation, and for those who are coming to Shibuya, knowing this temporary evacuation site can be kept safe until the facility for supporting people who can not go back home (acceptance) is established. Therefore, We thought to need "arrows and signs" pointing to temporary evacuation site. However, in the case of Shibuya Ward, even if you set up a uniform sign, it will be buried in the city.
How to solve those problems at once? How to solve more creative ways that is more like Shibuya? The answer we came up with to artify the arrows and signs so that they remain in the minds of the people in Shibuya.
